01.Case Study : Contact & WhatsApp Button Click Tracking

 

Overview

Easycar.my, an automotive-related website, needed better visibility into how users interact with key conversion points — specifically the “Contact Now” and “WhatsApp” buttons. While traffic was coming in, there was limited clarity on how many users were actually taking action or showing intent to connect.


The Challenge

The main issue was the lack of precise tracking for high-intent user actions. Standard pageview tracking wasn’t enough to answer important questions like:

  • How many users click the Contact Now button?
  • How many prefer WhatsApp as a communication channel?
  • Which traffic sources generate actual leads (not just visits)?

Without this data, it was difficult to measure campaign performance or optimize conversions.


What We Implemented

To solve this, we used Google Tag Manager (GTM) to set up advanced event tracking:

1. Click Event Tracking Setup

  • Configured Click Triggers in GTM to detect interactions with:
    • Contact Now button
    • WhatsApp button
  • Used element classes / button identifiers to ensure accurate tracking

2. GA4 Event Tags

  • Created dedicated Google Analytics 4 (GA4) event tags:
    • contact_now_click
    • whatsapp_click
  • Ensured events fire only on valid user interactions

3. Google Ads Conversion Tracking

  • Implemented Google Ads conversion tags for both actions
  • Enabled better tracking of paid campaign performance

4. Testing & Validation

  • Verified using:
    • GTM Preview Mode
    • GA4 DebugView
  • Confirmed successful firing of:
    • GA4 events
    • Google Ads conversion tags

Overview

EleganceFashionBD.com, a growing e-commerce fashion store, needed a complete understanding of how users move through their website — from browsing products to completing purchases. While they had traffic, they lacked visibility into the customer journey and conversion funnel.


The Challenge

The website was missing structured tracking across the full e-commerce funnel. This created several problems:

  • No clear data on product views, cart actions, or checkout behavior

What We Implemented

2. Google Tag Setup

  • Configured the Google Tag (GA4 base tag) across all pages
